Send a question

One address, a short list of things this desk can genuinely help with, and a shorter list of things it cannot. Reading the second list first will save you time.

The address

Write to [email protected]. There is no form on this page, because a form would collect more about you than an email does and there is no reason for this site to hold anything about its readers.

Replies come from the same desk that writes the pages. Volume varies and some messages go unanswered, which is a limitation rather than a policy.

What this desk can help with

A term you cannot pin down

If you met a word and cannot work out which of its meanings was intended, send the sentence it appeared in. Terms that come up more than once end up in the term list.

A correction

Point at the page and the specific sentence, and include a source if you have one. Factual errors are fixed on the page rather than noted at the bottom of it.

A gap in the coverage

If you looked for something here and it was not covered, that is useful to know. Several pages exist because somebody said the site skipped a step.

A mechanism worth explaining

General patterns, described generally, without naming anybody. If the pattern is real and explainable without helping anyone run it, it may become a page.

What this desk cannot do

  • Give legal advice. We cannot tell you what the law is where you live, whether something was illegal, or what your position is. Those are questions for a qualified professional in your own country, and we will say so rather than guess.
  • Give financial or trading advice. No opinions on assets, no price views, no assessment of whether something is worth buying, ever.
  • Investigate an incident. This desk has no investigative capacity and no access to anything you do not have. It cannot trace funds, identify anybody, or intervene with any service.
  • Recover funds. Nobody who contacts you can do this either. If you have lost money, what to do afterwards covers the reporting routes and explains why unsolicited recovery offers should be treated as a second attempt.
  • Name or accuse anybody. We do not publish accusations against any group, project or person, and we cannot confirm or deny anything about a named party.
  • Review or endorse a product. This site describes categories, not vendors, and does not rank anything.

Making a message easy to answer

Say what you were told, in the words that were used. Say what you want to know, in one sentence. If your question is about a page here, name the page and quote the line. If it is about a term, include the sentence you met it in, because the sentence usually settles which meaning was intended.

Please do not send private keys, seed phrases, passwords or account credentials to this address or to any other address, for any reason. Nothing this desk does could require them, and a message asking for them did not come from here.

What happens to your message

Messages are read and then deleted once they have been dealt with. Nothing is added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list. Nothing is passed to anybody. If a question leads to a change on the site, the change is made without identifying you, unless you asked to be credited and the change is substantial enough to warrant it.

How the site itself handles data is set out in the privacy notice, which is short because there is very little to describe.
